Telemedicine Consent

What telemedicine is

Telemedicine means a consultation with a licensed doctor that happens by video rather than in person. Your doctor reads the health assessment you completed, speaks with you, and decides whether to prescribe.

What you gain

Access to a DHA-licensed doctor without travelling or waiting, in private, at a time you choose.

What its limits are

A remote consultation is not the same as being examined in person. You should understand that:

Your doctor cannot physically examine you
Some conditions cannot be diagnosed or treated safely without an in-person visit or a blood test
Technical problems could interrupt or delay the consultation
Your doctor may conclude that you need to be seen in person, and will tell you so
Testosterone therapy is not available remotely under UAE rules

Records and confidentiality

Your clinical intake, doctor notes, and prescriptions are documented in your confidential medical record and treated with the same confidentiality as an in-person visit. Live video consultations are conducted over encrypted channels and are not recorded or saved to protect patient privacy. Your rights

You may withhold or withdraw this consent at any time without affecting your right to future care. You may ask questions at any point during the consultation, and you may ask for an in-person referral.

Emergencies

Telemedicine is not for emergencies. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, a suspected stroke or any other urgent symptom, call 998 or go to your nearest emergency department immediately.

Under Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Telemedicine Regulations and UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, all patients must formally review, declare, and digitally sign their informed consent before receiving a remote medical consultation or prescription.
